DJ MARKET TALK: Tabcorp Surges; AFR Cites Crown Bid Rumor
0506 GMT [Dow Jones] Tabcorp (TAH.AU) up 2.8% at A$6.64/share, on massive volume of
7.5 million shares, highest daily volume in nine months, hits 3-week high of A$6.76 after
AFR.com reports rumour that a private equity firm, possibly TPG, has teamed up with Crown
(CWN.AU) to bid for Tabcorp. Tabcorp share price surge comes despite 2.5% fall in broader
market. It also follows last week's fall to 14-month low of A$6.28. Spokespeople for
Tabcorp, TPG won't comment on speculation. A spokesman for Crown wasn't
