I'm not quite that cynical but I do think there is a lot of manipulation in progress. Short covering is the main culprit in my view, but there may also be some accumulation going on. All this will pass with the next good announcement, at which stage I wouldn't want to be holding a short position (and I don't). I am extra long and holding extra tightly.
