if a couple is prepared to purchase a 600k home and cant afford a friggin fridge or washing machine, then they should'nt be buying a home in the first place.

As i have mentioned in past threads, joe public need to move away from keeping up with the Jones's and worry about their own sh!t. Sell the BMW and buy a Ford. We live in a generation that have no idea how to make sacrifices.
My folks worked their guts out have had 2 cars since moving to OZ, saved and bought 4 properties and sent 3 kids to private schools and paid uni fees upfront. I understand we live in tech age and we want the iphone, ipad, ipod, laptop, 50inch flatscreen, the BMW, the latest clothes etc etc etc but when does it end. Learn to sacrifice people.
Take note Dalek's point, you can purchase these goods on interest free terms. Anyone who flexirents is an absolute idiot. A PC paid in cash for say $1700 will cost $3100 on flexirent. Its a rort but the retailers make it so easy to for the public to get into financial trouble.
Please do your research and stop feeding the ones killing your financial position and lifestyle.
Unfortunately this is the stuff kids need to learn at school-the basics in life and common traps. There needs to be streetwise high schools set up all around OZ.
