im a recent student of modern warfare tactics and strategy

Eurasian theatre of war is all about taking & holding real estate....Surgical pinpoint strikes serve a purpose but cannot deny enemy from holding territory or prepare the way for an army to hold territory. the onlynthing that can achieve this is Artillery...multiple rocket launcher systems....brought to bare on an area with saturation around the clock bombardment, cheap, very effective.


Taiwan on the other hand is a mountainous island ....amphibious landing zones are almost non existent and the ones that could be used would be slaughter zones....think Iwo Jima.....naval artillery would rule the day....crippling relentless bombardment with conventional TNT.....coupled with surgical cruise missiles, launched by aircraft, ships, mainland based launchers...

the chinese would probably also set have to set up a naval blockaded to prohibit merchant navy traffic....put the island under "siege" so to speak.

very messy....

i think the chinese would prefer to reacquire Taiwan thru political means...put in place some sort of mutually agreeable quasi autonomous rule timeline....etc

The cancer however that is America will do everything in its power to stymie a peaceful transition.
