doesn’t take much research to identify that whilst demand is projected to rise massively, the supply side hasn’t got equivalent number of nickel mines producing/coming online to keep up if this projected demand is to be met. Add to that high grade deposits are depleting in numbers and now everyone is open to the economics of lower grade deposits. But this only makes economic sense if the nickel is in large volumes and accessible as downstream processing is still expensive to set up if you’ve only got a smaller deposit.
What the market sees IMO is a real opportunity to bring a new sizeable deposit into production against this backdrop of longer term demand. Add to that WA already has downstream processing plants so even if WMG is only valued on in-ground results, it is still attractive as an asset for likes of BHP. An asset with realistic potential- CM has said himself that they can economically extract nickel from what they’ve identified so far (assuming a scoped MRE here that is extrapolated from assay results). Next few months/year will work towards working out the size of this monster.
With what’s happened to PLS and other ensuing Li players coming into the ev and green era, I get the sense that Nickel doesn’t present the same opportunity landscape for all explorers. But in WMG the upside is massive.
if I recall correctly, Mt Keith grade is 0.6% but they extract I think 0.2 equivalent as a large portion of nickel is caught up in silicate) - one of recent prestos shared a few days ago here in hc, CM commented that they can extract more than that from MT, think 0.3 equivalent - you’ll need to find that and get this confirmed. This is my understanding so far.
And with a low MC and SOI, WMG simply cannot to be ignored/likely to attract massive attention going forward because of the macro and specific of what they’ve announced so far.
Am sure there are many other reasons beyond the above as to why WMG sp has rocketed. Question remains how big is this potential and many here see that translating to billions of $ in the not too distant future.
DYOR and good luck in your decision to buy/hold/sell.
