I thought the DFS used the boron revenue as an offset to the cost of Li production so that the cost to produce the Li came down to around $US2,500/tonne ("one of the lowest cost producers in the world" as per inr)
So 3.4mt x $25,000 = 85b in revenue (LoM)
Cost 3.4mt x 2,500 = 8.5b in net costs
Profit before tax 76.5b (LoM)
What they don't say is:
- will they ramp up production of Li from the original DFS output of 22,000t pa now they have an increased resource
- or will they just extend the LoM & leave the DFS figures where they were
- If they ramp up, what will it cost to expand the plant (or do they already have excess production capacity built into their plans)
- How the DFS would look using Li at $25,000/t rather than the approx $11,000/t they used
- Just how much resource do they think is there really in the remaining 60% of the south basin & the entire NB
"Bigger than Ben Hur" comes into mind here
It would be nice to think the US government could just tell BLM to approve the mine now & get it going - a resource this size is critical to the US plans of being self sufficient in critical minerals - but that's wishful thinking - the US government doesn't have the stones to "overrule the process" because they are too scarred of the greenies who should be backing this to the hilt
That's my two bob's worth!!
Beat me up if you disagree!!!
