Why would he not go to China? Given how dependent A2 is on the Chinese market. I think I saw one comment earlier accuse him of grandstanding by visiting China. I mean, seriously? To the contrary, he should probably be spending the majority of his time there, given it's importance.
But as for what's going on behind the scenes, I don't think SAMR is the issue. That process, according to both companies, is almost concluded. The real issue to me is Synlait's long term viability. I don't think anyone is 'sabotaging' Synlait (other than arguably those at its helm). It may be A2M and its Chinese allies who need to step in and salvage things if they continue to spiral. IMO.
