None of those people are still alive, Australia hasn't been a colony for over 120 years.

The people alive today who are still suffering are doing so because of their own inaction to change / adapt to join the modern world.
Yes there has been a lot of corruption, mismanagement & incompetence but you certainly can't blame 18th & 19th century British for their current woes.
