The easiest way to prove that wrong is by explaining how shorting works.
So a broker/insto shorts pushing the price down while accumulating a negative holding.
Then cover at a lower SP to make a profit on the decline.
They can use that profit to buy shares thus accumulated shares while the SP has declined.

There appear to be a cumulative 270,000 shares shorted then covered over this period ... not much on the scale of things and certainly not significant compared with BG's selling but they (M?) will likely have made good money.
