Did we learn anything in Oct 07?
BHP was $50 in Oct 07 before plummeting to $20 in March 09. Now holding through this period makes little sense to me now. I did and it was a bad idea. The investor environment is so complex these days with bots, dark pools, Goldmans long mortgage/short property theft, Euro drama, Nationalisation of public debt, 600 year Geo political power shift from West to the emerging economies of the East bla bla bla but you have to wake up and smell the genetically engineered roses. Just look at http://hf-implode.com/ to see what happens to buy and hold investors. It's a minefield out there so be careful. Even though it is complex and noisy, I suppose it all boils down to time and price so we just gotta focus. Here is a couple of graphs that may assist your choices going forward. At least if we pick the right sector we increase our odds which is what it's all about.

Some wise words from Kenny the brother of Jim Rogers;))Not

"You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done."
