I don't think there is any such thing as mum and dad investors. There are investors who care and investors who are educated with regard to investment.

Both are subsets of the group who you are referring to as mum and dad investors.
From working with individual investors over decades as an adviser I confidently asset that fund managers and corporate investors provide a much higher percentage of investors, who are educated with regard to investment and investors who care, than individuals who hold direct or beneficial ownership of the shares.

What we do have though is a large rump of journalists activists and other sh* stirrers who would have one believe otherwise and a barrow to push. Now that's across a much greater range then just greenhouse gasses.
