IMO you are omitting the all crucial element; the cost.
Its fine and dandy to say that Lithium Batteries are 95% efficient but at what cost?
A car lithium battery lasts about 12 years being intermittently used. A mega Electricity battery ina 45 ft container (about 40 ton) and used continuously at capacity lasts half as long (ask SA)
"Initially introduced in 2012 and constantly updated, the Tesla Model S battery weight is around 1,200 lbs. Last but not least is the newer compact crossover, the Model Y. The newest of the four Tesla models, it incorporates a hefty battery pack. Tesla Model Y battery weight is the heaviest at 1,700 lbs.5 Jan 2023Tesla Battery Weight Guide "
A Tesla battery costs about $20K and weighs 1700 lbs (770k)
So scaled up to to a 40 ton Container job this would cost at least $10.5 million and we'd need thousands of these to run a city in domestic and industrial supply, IMO.
We live in a capitalist world where economic efficiency is the most important.
