Yeah I have regularly seen the same over the past couple of years.

Including at Christmas time.

Same with SSG stores, if not worse.

And yet both post terrific results.

Why? DSK stores aren't hang out spots like LOV but rather people go in and buy/collect and leave. It helps that the average transaction value is $54 with an in-store sales conversion at a whopping 70%. Plus throw in store growth repeating the same trick.

Run the numbers on the hourly traffic required and it indicates why so stores are empty and yet DSK keep hitting their numbers.

Like I said, beware anecdotal evidence when confirmation bias is strong.
