Who are the local people? Are you referring to the Malaysian police who take bribes from the poorest workers such as Filipinos and Bangladeshi's to fill up their Hari Riya stockings, or the Bumi Putra who dominate all government jobs, or the Chinese who look after their own? I lived in Malaysia for many years and think your are referring to cultural issues - the Aussi's can be idiots when in a pack, the Brits arrogant when in a group setting...but to imply the Malaysians are any different doesn't sound quite right...they have their own quirks that annoy the sh*t out of everyone else.
