This was actually a counter argument against what you said. Transportation as a service could reduce the amount of new cars being built a year by 75%+ and make it to expensive for most people to even drive a car.

If automation makes cars more safer than a human driver what happens to insurances? car insurance would be significantly higher then it is today on top of paying $50k+ plus for a new car when the alternative is a $100 a month subscription. Obviously this is a long way away from happening, but it is a counter argument to the mineral supply shortages in 2040/2050.

If that situation did come to fruition Imo copper would still be in high demand but the other battery minerals? probably not so much.
