Australia will be the Host Country this year, with an Australian pavilion, a conference session dedicated to Australia, and a networking function with key stakeholders in the mining industry. The latest edition in 2019 had 208 exhibitors from 12 countries, and 7450 visitors, with over 1200 business meetings held during the event, and a conference program which included “Sustainable Mining” and “New Technologies” sessions. Australia is now one of the leading countries exploring and investing in the development of the extractives sector in Argentina, with over 20 mining companies investing in the market. Furthermore, the high calibre of Australian investment and technology has been noticed and is held in great esteem at both a federal and provincial level. Argentina is among the top 15 mining exploration investment destinations and the 4th largest lithium producer. With over 20 Australian mining companies investing in the country, Argentina currently has 18 operating mines, 95 projects at an advanced stage and more than 200 in the initial stages. By 2030, eight projects that are under construction are expected to go into operation. The country largest potential lies in its lithium and copper reserves, which are now critical to the world’s energy transition path.
