Yeah obviously not stellar news for Beam and its territories, more competition. My thoughts are: iPhones cost 1k+, and eventually (when the trial runs out) will also come with the additional plan addon cost making it pretty questionable financially. The other question is about the reliability of the signal, battery use etc.

If BCC were super smart they would continue to position themselves as a subject matter expert on satellite communications integration for all phones with the telcos, regardless of the network. I.e. if zoleo would be effectively debranded and any phone could connect with one and send messages/light data under its normal number without any apps (telcos could sell those devices as an 'outback booster' not to confuse consumers). Truly seamless and it would not be just for use with iPhones, not sure if it's technically possible or not though.

Anyhow, yeah times are changing.
