Cometa project of Bastion in relation to southern HCH ground.

At a glance there are some similarities with Correteo.

Near the western margin of a major intrusive (ditto San Antonio).
Evidence of intrusives punched into the ?volcaniclastic sequence west of this boundary.
Old workings show evidence of probable prospecting to mining for copper (and or other minerals).

Differences Correteo Cometa.

Closer relation of intrusive to copper shows/alteration anomalies.
No reported Cu at Correteo.
Possible NE/SW local control vs NW/SE possible at Correteo.
Surface copper grabs are much higher than any I recall for HCH but the latter are possibly buried deep in archived announcements. Certainly were not front and center for SZ or Correteo suggesting there may be other features that attracted HCH. High grade grabs need to be treated with caution especially in areas where secondary copper minerals coat surfaces and attract the eye. Still better than nil though leaching does occur often.

As part of the search for Cometa I went on the Chile Govt. tenement site. There are anomalies in the data they present that I do not understand.

The red stars show blanks in the Government claim data where former HCH tenements existed. Have these been dropped? These claims are listed in the last quarterly.
The western portion of Cometa does not show any tenements! Clearly part of the tenement block in Bastion data.

Some overlap with my interpretation of HCH ground in the NW corner of Cometa.

HCH, through their subsidiary Sociedad Minera la Frontera, have at least 3 tenements to the west of the Domeyko mine SW of Cortadera.
These tenements have the name Mari 1, 6, and 8. No 2-5 or 7 shown!?




Look like nearology claims to zones of small to mid scale mining operations.

Just east of the large sheet wash fan of sediments eroded off the Andes.
Possibly in a geologic position similar to Cometa/Correteo/San Antonio.
Small scale workings visible in the south of 1 and north of 6 plus a larger pit/mine to the south west (detail below).


HCH will have this in their data base. Not easy to find from OZ.

Perhaps a geophysical response here as well as ?nearology since the majority of the tenement appears to be under recent cover. (1x3 Kms)

Don't believe HCH have announced these claims formally other than being in the last quarterly.
