I didn't watch/read Grant's opinion, but from what I've read on here it seems he was only relating why the monarchy is so abhorred by many Aussies, not only Aboriginal people. of course its going to offend monarchists. this doesn't suggest vilifying anyone.
had he made his comments at another time, away from the context of the coronation, would anyone be so offended?
personally I think it was very il-timed. I wonder why Grant was enabled to make such comments.
