cheers tappie..... so my post is why bother to take offence during the coronation if its not otherwise offensive? the point is made and remains a standing issue for first Aussies.
the monarchy today certainly aren't directing anyone toward the colonial era issues. yet the monarchy remains the figurehead for the crimes done under monarchic rule. surely you can see the connection. when the villain of any deed is no longer extant, the offspring carry the weight of the fathers' sins in human consciousness. how else are first Aussies to have someone to point the bone at?
vengeance has been a primary motive force for many conflicts across the planet. its not the sole property of first Aussies. yes its a false argument but it is primitive human nature.... we see the same in our modern politics fgs.
Aboriginal people have been vilified for 200+ years and have only recently found they have a voice, an ability to be heard by non-Aboriginal people, and to have their issues addressed. This is what the Voice is all about: addressing the vilification they've suffered for over 200 yrs.
