But I also don’t think the issue should have escalated beyond the aged care staff. The fact that it did, probably means that there was imminent danger.
The issue is, police aren’t trained in hand to hand combat when the ‘offender’ has a weapon.
So if verbal de-escalation didn’t work, then I’d assume the police moved to the next level of de-escalation.
