I seriously doubt Merrill Lynch are responsible for the selling pressure we've witnessed over the last 2.5 days.
They were only issued 15.247M shares yesterday, add in the 4.844M already held by ML (Aust) (ref Q1 top 20), and they hold a total 20M (visible) shares.
Best case scenario for their selling activity would be to've had the 15.247M issued yesterday prior to mkt open...but yesterdays vol was 56.5M (they could've gotten rid of some, even all), but the sellers trading pattern was similar to the day before, which did 82M (when ML only had 4.88M shares!).
Take yesterdays vol by itself, 56.5M...you would've needed more than 20M shares to meet all the buying pressure + force the sp from 20.5c down to a close of 17.5c.
I don't subscribe at all to ML being behind the large selling which is keeping the sp suppressed.
Whoever is behind it has been at work for at least the last 2.5 days, with a lot of ammunition!
