    Re: am aware of the steps involved, but ultimately if Rudd has the mandate of the Australian people, and therefore the relevant numbers in parliament, then it doesn't matter what a few grubby miners think

    Actually no....

    The federal government can not confiscate property, but they can buy it on "just terms". Thankfully Rudd (our fearless and righteous leader - apparently), can't even confiscate with the full support of both houses!
