Not to mention abundance, ease of transport/storage, etc. The losses in LNG are huge.
If we aren't mature enough as a nation to establish nuclear, the least we can do is have reliable cheap baseload to support industries that require significant electricity inputs (and, you know, the humans trying to get by...). Coal is the logical answer to that requirement. As it is, this current policy trajectory is seeing the de-industrialisation of our country based on fiction.
No developed nation can stay that way with such policies. Just look at Germany, previously an industrial behemoth. Now turning off nuclear and digging up their brown coal, by some irony getting rid of some windmills to do so.
