At the end of the day, this could end with Felix actually doing something like issuing a mining lease. After this saga anything he says will not be trusted by the investment community, and that means the DRC will be owned by China unless he gets a ticker and issues a mining lease to AVZ and gives AVZ 75% control (or at worst the 60% control). That has its own repurcussions for i.) Western investors, commodity markets given how resource rich the DRC is and how access to those minerals by China can influence commodity prices, and iii.) the people of the DRC who will not benefit from mining income. Obviously growth in markets in India and long term production by western miners to growing European and USA (and emerging markets such as India and stabilisation of markets in Japan/Korea) will refocus investment returns.
I don't buy any of the arguments on these threads that Felix needs the ICC to do its work to stamp out corruption by allowing the ICC to do its work. What has occurred in relation to AVZ in the DRC will put shivers among western investors of
exploration companies in particular (as they essentially rely on governments following law to focus activities there hence the term exploration companies) because clearly the rule of law (as westners know it) has not been followed, so thinking Felix stepping in before an ICC decision will emphasis sovereign risk in that country is a rubbish argument. In fact, Felix by actually just stepping in would reduce sovereign risk because it is clearly corruption that has occurred here and you don't need an ICC investigation to get you there. The point now too me is that AVZ will not get this to mining this side of 2025 and its place in the development queue has been taken by others, and I doubt it will get to mining before 2027 as well. Clearly AVZ need to strike a deal with the JV itself, i.e. just accept 60% and move on because don't rely on Flex for anything is my point, because the lack of ticker by Felix and company, regardless of what they say, is showing. I doubt they will do much with the ICC decision, even in favour of AVZ, as well, given I suspect that ICC decision will be appealed by any of the parties to that arbitration and wont be followed.
As to CATL, just be mindful it is a chinese company as well and IMO wouldn't care whether AVZ is a majority or minority holder in Dathcom. That is IMO as well.
As I posted a while ago:
""
I personally feel the AVZ threads should be shut down until AVZ either realists or delists. Only ASX announcements should be posted here until then IMO. Too much misinformation and speculation and baiting, noting there are investors here seriously hurting and should be considered in the constant baiting here. For me glad I free carried ages ago but annoying to see funds locked here and AVZ slipping down the development stake as others take its place by getting to production before AVZ, noting the earlier you get to production the better off you will be. High prices at the start of production would have been a serious investment advantage, but that advantage is reducing.
A year of suspension is enough to warrant a close to the thread. The debates on here just go around in circles. As I stated ages ago, Felix has no ticker and corruption is engrained in the DRC - Felix can end this simply by issuing a ML but brown paper bags and lack of leadership is evident here.
At the end of the day who will fund the transport systems when trust is broken for investors? For the DRC it not just a question of digging it up and processing it - it has a long transport system. The lack of action by Felix means the DRC will remain captive to Chinese interests. Sovereign risk has further increased in the DRC and western investors will continue to remain on the sidelines.
At the start of the suspension my concern rested around timelines to production. Production will now not happen this side of 2025, it is pretty obvious.
All IMO""
