Its a tough call. He lost the NSW gig, and will likely lose other coaching roles. Hard for ch9 to keep him, real bad publicity, especially commentating the origin match which involves the players in question.

NRL/AFL need to stamp out mis behaviour. But im not sure making a scape goat out of Johns is the answer. The real solution starts at junior level and continues into early seniors level.

Australian sportmen are paid truckloads. People treat them like god and let them get away with too many things. Players know they can/will get away with it. Thats what needs to stop.

Im 100% against racism or discrimination of ANY kind. But too be fair, had Johns called Inglis a FAT bleep or DUMB bleep it would somehow be more acceptable?

Even certain ethnic background are more tolerant. Seems like calling an italian a wog wouldnt raise an eyebrow, but other races are untouchable.

Like i said im 100% against it, and wouldn't use any racist remarks, but they are just words, and stick n stone, etc...

Are we as a society that precious that we cant ignore taunts? Im sure overweight people cop unfair stares and comments. What about short people?

I think the context that he used the words in mitigates it to an extent. ie he didnt say it to Inglis. He said it behind closed doors. He didnt say it in a bullying or malicious way. He said it in a motivational speach.

    Was it foolish? Yes

Is it forgivable? Yes, and Inglis will do the right thing for the sport. But he will wait til after Origin2.

Will it cost him? Most likely.

Like I said, its a tough situation. He shouldnt have said it. The players have a right to be offended. But they should be mature enough to let it go.

Ofcourse if its been going on for years, then perhaps he needs a lesson.
