I can't for the life of me seem to copy and paste link to the page however I've spent the morning reading up on indo nickel.
would it be silly to think that once there is an environmentally friendly option that can meet demand, that it won't be the preferred option for the west even if it comes at a premium.
there is several environmental groups lobbying against indo nickel, polluting local rivers, killing wild life, dumping it into the ocean just doesn't seem like the green future the EV industry is aiming for?
if indo nickel was the future then why wouldn't GM just jump on that ship and not even bother with us? a company who's gunning to be one of the biggest EV makers in the world.
if and when the tech project goes ahead and GM secures clean carbon negative nickel they'll be shouting it from the rooftops and lobbying every American politician to ban dirty indo nickel.
not to mention indo nickel seems to be mostly Chinese owned and operated I just honestly can't see America ,Europe, Australia ect sticking with the option when demand can be met in a cleaner more environmentally friendly way.
I do however agree in the short term we will ride then Nickel price wave just like lithium, rare earths, graphite ect have Done.
obviously the Chinese market will still opt for the latter.
seems Indonesia is one serious incident away from an absolute shit storm
I'd imagine in the not to distance future there'll be a clean nickel price and a dirty nickel price and one would not think the dirty nickel price would have an effect on us.
again I'm pretty new around here so if any of my assumptions sound like garbage please call me out, I genuinely like to learn both sides of the story.
