The effect of the profits tax, were it to apply to Minemakers, would be that there is less profit year on year. Therefore investors are willing to pay less for the company because there's less return. And that's especially true if the company needs to raise funds. The tax would mean a migration of capital from companies subject to the tax, to those that aren't.
