Sure. Renewables need backup. We all know that. We are a long way from having the required amount of generation or energy storage in 2023.

But what's backing up the 500MW coal fired unit that is out of service right now ?

That's a lot of electricity generation that's going to be out of service for most of winter. Arguably when its needed most.

What's providing the 500MW to back that absent generation from the system right now ?

ls the build out of the renewable electricity system that is going to power the country 100% complete in 2023 ?

Or is it years from completion ?
