They started calling them first nations people because it became trendy.
Call it what you like but it is about a small percentage of the population that are or identify as aboriginal/ first nations people that are to receive special rights and conditions over and above other Australians. Are you aware you don't even have to prove you're aboriginal / first nation to get the benefits and I have first hand knowledge of this in the area I live. So if by some small chance this yes vote happens to get across the line I certainly hope that those that are identifying as aboriginal are made to prove it through DNA or something similar and if they don't even I might decide to identify myself and my kids as aboriginal.
