As you rightly refer, it all comes down to how leachable the ore is. Therefore, in future I will reflect upon the levels of reported product rather than making assumptions about what essentially are inconsequential assay results in any given project of this nature.
Nevertheless, Dy remains one of the USA's most critical mineral, so there is no barrier to enter for any tier1 located company that can prove they've got high levels of it and has the community onside.
In regard to your assumptions on the south east location. Land owners realise that AR3 is not proposing to do a traditional mining process where you stay for decades. My understanding is that AR3 will be 2 year occupants, moving from one bit to another bit using light equipment, fully rehabilitating the land as they go. Already, they have successfully trialed this process as per below.
However, here’s the surprising bit — it appears that the Koppamurra mineralisation is located where not much grows well - hence gum trees which have deep root structures tend to struggle. I believe, this provides AR3 with clues for how they target their exploratory drilling.
Most plants don’t like to be in wet feet. So, it’s thought that the high acidic ground water just sits within the smectite hosted clay layer. This is not ideal for deep plant root development but ideal for natural separating of a range of rare earths that have occurred.
I envisage that if AR3 are able to use something a simple as magnesium to extract the rare earths, the process of taking out the elements, leaving behind magnesium residuals (beneficial for plant growth anyhow) and aerating the soils may prove to help improve the productivity of the overall land. A potential win win for the local farming community and the macro thematic to switch to a greener and cleaner future sooner rather than later.
Note: Most plants don’t like to be in wet feet. Hence, the gum tree in the foreground may have been a clue for AR3 to target their drilling here.
