Does that last sentence mean that without the index/ETF holders owning so much Zip that the big shorters won't be able to borrow those tens of millions of shares as easily again?
Can retail share holder's shares get shorted, say by Commsec for example? Can Commsec allow shorts of their customer's combined millions of shares? Or can you only short with specific permission from the actual owner like you say the ETF/Index/Superfund holder?
Could be a good thing to be out of an index/etf if those vultures allow the stock to be smashed like this. Then once the market cap grows again, you know it's a possibility of a large-scale short return.
