I was talking to a 80 year old ex serviceman on the weekend who served in Vietnam, i made a joke about him being on a pension so i would shout him something, he informed me he received a pension of 3250$ a fortnight or 1625$ a week, i believe he was a private or similar, ie not high ranking, i respect what these people did fighting for our country but i was blown away by how generous this pension was, a figure of twice the age pension would be i think generous but 1625$ a week for a single pensioner seems over the top..
