    You might be surprised to learn, as these farmer did, that the project may in fact improve soil conditions.

    AR3 has discovered something that maybe considered unique. The REE mineralisation seems to be located where not much grows well. I believe, this provides AR3 with clues for how they target their exploratory drilling. As most plants don’t like to be in wet feet, it’s thought that the high acidic ground water which sits within the smectite hosted clay layer (where the REE is) could be an impediment to deep plant root development.

    If AR3 are able to use something a simple as magnesium to extract the rare earths, the process of taking out the elements, leaving behind magnesium residuals (which are beneficial for plant growth anyhow) and aerate the soil, may help to improve the productivity of the overall land.

    A potential win win for the local farming community and a greener future.
