Remember any $ they get has already been spent on wages to do consulting initially and no ecconomy until multiple deals done and you have a "standard" platform and format to sell that others can brand. No one will generally want old generation so will want a newer version as they all saw sales results will old versions and will know current market demand at pricepoint for current versions.

HP was special in regards to the fact they wanted all NUH resources and open access to fully intergrate into their own and microsoft software with soem exclusivity - that is unlikley to happen again IMO. In the end they paid for stock at wholesale I guess and put it for destruction or sitting in warehouse awaiting battery expiry assuming nothing is in dispute.?

Realtek have em by the nuts to put it simply. NUH IMO have little leverage to go elsewhere and are reliant on Realtek to introduce and act ats intermediatary knowing pricing and all chip and intergration costs inside out.

It is a tough gig in a very competitive industry that requires investment up front at every stage and then a long trickle income as a return and requires volume as per chip are small payments . Each platform of audio be it headphone, car, Tv -, portable audio ,home audio anything all require leadtimes and then market development to get to volume. It is a long game and first assumption is that Realtek produce a chip with NUH onboard that clients see a competitive sound , speed, battery use or marketing advantage and want to intergrate into a product .
