And why would they refer to Australia as AU? Wouldn't they say Australian as a definitive statement. They wouldn't refer to Russia as RUS, or Germany as GER. Don't reply by saying they use USA and UK as country names as these are the common names for these countries, whereas AU could also be Austria of course.
