Hey guys I know where you coming and I do think you should be able to build a house cheaper. But while Swan blabs on about making it more affordable, they pass on all infrustructure cost for the state to pay schools hospitals roads public transport. That why land is expensive developers have to pay now a % to pay for this and its passed on to you, As for building you guys are not in the industry so I won't go on about costs. While its easy to say this you have tradies working for you wages, ute, tools, holiday pay, sick pay, wet days, super, payroll tax and I could keep going insurance, energy ratings, theft off sites, proffesional fees,then the biggest thing safety which you have no idea its added 15,000 to a build I could still go on. Look guys its all right to bleat on how things should be cheaper but there not. No house is 17 squares anymore most are 30 plus with everything. If you want to live on on a 220 square block living in a dog box 60 km from the city fine you will have your 180,000g house but no one wants ones? So come on guys you probably sit in an office have never been or worked in the industry so its easy to say what should be.
That what p's me off the most about this site hardly any of you have ever worked in the industry but sound like Ken Henry in telling everyone what should be happening. A public servant telling industry what they should be doing how they should be doing it. You guys amaze me in your short sightedness but hey if you want cheap housing come work for me at 10 per hour and then it might be a reality but hey would you leave your office and work hard and I do mean hard for $10 for your cheap housing.
