Franchisees who buy these new franchises deal with "RFG" so a break from the past provides a clean break away from the corrupt practices kd the previous management. RFG needs to sell these to generate income - your grandma may not know/care/give a sh*te but the franchisees do and they know of the stains of RFG past practices.
