I think that this is a wonderful idea. In fact there are several facebook pages now dedicated to this movement.
But of course living in a country which adores rules and regulations aka a Nanny State.

The local shires are a little blown away by this and are trying to quickly think up ways to stop it, or charge a fortune as they do not care for self sufficient innovation.
They want us all to fit in their boxes, so they can charge everyone a fortune for rent/rates etc.

For the moment, people are smart and are getting round the rules and regulations, by making these units transportable.

But many farmers or people with smaller acreages are welcoming this new movement. They may charge $200 per week, but the small houses need to be independent for power and sewerage. In return, many will offer a space to grow vegetables and keep a few chooks etc.Or offer labour for part of the rent.

This is a most civilised way to live and could help so many poorer people. Very "1970's Good Life" it should be encouraged, but I fear that the opposite may happen.

Our neighbours, when we bought our farm, told many tales of poor, but hardworking people setting up a home in humpies along the quiet lanes to save up some money.

I really wish that we could turn the clock back, I am not that fond of the way that things are looking now and in the future.

Yes I am one of the vilified boomers who has investment properties, but I prefer freedom rather than the way we live nowadays, it is horrid.
    But what can we do?
