the whole issue of gender has become an explosion of hypothetical perspectives which seem to offer credibility to small children' fantasies about what its like to be "other" than what they are. my experience with kids taught me that small children often experiment with "what if" scenarios in the 2nd half of their first decade.
so a child wondering what's its like to have a doodle is only a thought experiment and not necessarily a desire to actually be something they are not.
I'm not familiar with the psychological theories on gender dysphoria, yet the principles should suffice, happy to be corrected. so, dissatisfaction with life often incurs a desire for changes to be made to avoid distress. the desired cages may/may not be directly creating life improvement through the identified change that is "needed". some may even be harmful due to inadequate consideration of complications or the degree in which fantasy has imbued the perceived solution as viable. for eg. how such changes affect others is a critical issue that is often ignored.
you ask "what they want equal rights to", to which I responded equivocally with "I don't know"..... and how could I possibly know? I'm not a trans person and have never had such an in depth discussion with a trans person..... have you? if so you may have less doubts..... but my guess is they want the same as anyone else - the right to live their lives freely without anyone imposing values on them (shoving their thoughts down our throats as some complain of on HC).
this is the kind of tolerance that I'm encouraging. this is the degree of folly we all suffer from imo.... we want what we cannot have but strive toward an often ill-defined goal of difference from our present lives with the aim of achieving equanimity with the rest of the world. equality is the perception of equanimity imo.
maybe this is wrong as there are always more angles to perceive a given circumstance than one and I'm only offering an example.
"mea culpa"....... I love songs, two of which focus on the idea of not being guilty. George Harrison did a ripper on this subject, as did Loudon Wainwright III, looking at the conflicts that come from allegations of guilt. the first Aussie matter is one such guilt-laden matter that is often interpreted as addressing white guilt. this is a misnomer imo as while our ancestors committed atrocities and even as I carried racist attitudes into my 20's, I am no more guilty, personally, than any others. all I've written is acknowledgement of my failings and fallibilities. these are facts not emotive "guilt". all we are is human and fallible.
Yet we are all responsible..... and the matter is to address the issues rather than blame and acquire guilt or accuse others of guilt. imho its not about guilt but about identifying problem areas and addressing these matters without prejudice or blame.
such is my position. I note your seeming dissatisfaction with my posts.... perhaps you're wanting something from my posts that I'm unwilling or unable to give you. but I have only my views. I hope this provides some better answer for you.
in your addit, you identify your perception of language issues that affect women. I've not been aware of this. and I don't see the need to change nay language about the physiology of women.
I also assume you can now see that allowing those with male physiology to compete in sport with women is disrespectful.... ...... I already wrote on this above suggesting that trans people should have their own section in sports and in toilets.
respect needs to be mutual for respect to have its full affect. if its unequal it results in power relationships. most people are in unequal relationships. --- I don't know for certain that this syllogism has equal application as all relations are different.
