Have been talking to sonray broker/ex broker now, today about this exact issue. Stocks in sonray do not have a hin and are collectively pooled, and as such can/ probably will be sold and part recovery may be possible. At this point equities have not been sold, but sad part is they undoubtably will be sold at undesirable prices, at a unspecified time in the future, just to clear the mess hall. I also have a commsec account, was told that if that company folded, shares would be safe due to hin , but all cfd's are a sitting target. It really is a shame because you could trade nearly every exchange/stocks/cfd/futures/fx out of 1 account. Although the platform wasn't the gratest, this was very handy. Unfortunately for myself I'll probably never trade again as the risk of this happening again will always be at the front of my mind and as I prefer cfd's I would keep the account so small it just wouldn't be viable.
