Don't take it that I completely agree with the amount of taxation or the structure of it, just that it fits the times, and that there is some justification for some increase.
The proposal by the government to pay up for failed endeavours is frightening.
If things get really bad, the liability would seriously compound budgetary problems. I am unsure of the details and I suppose if just a tax credit, it may not be so bad. Even then, although some companies would just dissapear, I presume that profitable ones would aquire those with tax credits and try to use them as offsets. I am no tax expert and anyway I think the details have not been spelled out.
Seems the miners are suspicious of that aspect anyway and it seems that will go and be offset by a reduction somewhere in the tax.
