Governments generate income via taxation. they then spend this moeny on a variety of things. everybody pays tax one way or another. companies benefit from government spending via concessions, subsidies, access to infrastructure, trade and consular assistance, protection of assets by police and armed forces and so on. they get this free of charge yet everybody pays for it. within this framework they operate to maximise profits for the benefits of the shareholders. without government, they would be under no obligation to support the wider community.
capitalism by its very nature isw selfish, greedy and uncaring - look at the history of child labour, factories, slavery, the provision of social welfae, the development of the modern city anbd so on.
