Unfortunately the precedent has been set. If anyone was sticking to "Small govt myth" surely it was exploded with "The Rona Pandemic" "Scamdemic" as many have noted and much evidence has shown.
An example of the Hitler style as you state (the welfare card) appeared to have worked.... its removal caused further and instant dysfunction by many accounts. I'm no fan of Hitler nor authoritarianism but , "sometimes one has to be cruel in order to be kind" -Remember the upbringing paradigm post WW2? It seemed to create resilience and respect that appears lacking in contemporary society.
I do not advocate cruelty per se, but refer to the term as coined in Shakesperean? literature and pejoritively/ hyperbolic use today as some removal of fundamental human rights for the indigenes. We are all forced to have Moneys deposited and transacted by an authority with which we may disagree on a rights ground. In the case of the welfare card, a health and social benefit was the kindness and cruelty the way the money was received/ provided (gratis no less).
The Stolen Generation is another hyperbole in the attempt at painting it as a racist thing. Many fit in to a stolen generation narrative.... think child prisoners/ convicts sent to this land think children of the Mayflower... did they want to go across the seas to somewhere else were their rights abused.... by C17th and C18th standards. Think the peoples of Europe from Hitler's and Stalin's legacies. Thise affected by The Mongol Hordes, The Vandals etc.etc. The whiteys and the churchies had good intent but, some abused their positions (as employees of State Govt welfare departments still do today. If one dwells on the past their future is beholden to it.
I believe more people are considering the lack of resilience and self determination currently displayed by the Promoters of The Voice within an equitable and very well meaningvparadigm -One which seems to have no incremental change (we are told) What will The Voice achieve and how?
You mentioned it yourself above, "whatever happened to personal responsibility small gov. Gov not interfering in people's lives" This "Voice" appears to be the antithesis.
Mercenary as it seems but the product of the greed of modern society.... 'Show them the money'.. for the concept to be believed.
