Well done Archer!
Brilliant Announcement!
At the heart of every Quantum computer is the Qubit - without it Quantum simply wouldn't be possible!
From the latest announcement, Archer has engineered it's qubits to be robust, sufficient coherence times, foundry compatible and scalable ... all at room temperature! I know many of us were questioning coherence times and if 230 nanoseconds was long enough, but clearly the below statement indicates it is long enough for quantum logic operations. I've read it a few times to let it sink in.....
Commenting on the newly developed nanomaterials technology, Dr Mohammad Choucair,CEO of Archer, said,“This is a major achievement for Archer’s qubit development. It shows the strength of Archer’sstrategy to be an enabler for the sector, with our innovations making qubit materialspotentially more accessible and more easily embedded in modern day semiconductorfabrication processes for quantum logic device manufacture”.
“Archer has now demonstrated its qubit materials’ quantum coherence times observed at roomtemperature can be achieved under normal conditions, in air. This means the approach has thepotential for technology translation to industrially scale Archer’s 12CQ qubit chip architecture.“It is remarkable that Archer’s carbon qubit material is so readily produced yet remains robustpost-processing to generate the fragile quantum states for the long enough periods of timeneeded for quantum logic operations in the qubit devices we are developing.
“Archer continues to move closer to making quantum processing devices in a much more easily-produced reality in everyday electronics with this latest milestone. Now, don't get me wrong ... I'm no expert in the field of Quantum, I'm merely an investor like many others here, and I do take my investments seriously. I can't say I can understand all the Quantum Geek Speak, but knowing the Worldwide investment in Quantum Technologies around the world and there are big dollars being thrown at research into Quantum and reading an announcement like this does give chills down my spine!
The wording in the announcement "
strength of Archer's strategy to be an enabler for the sector" and "
potential for technology translation to industrially scale Archer's 12cq qubit chip architecture" ... also "
Archer continues to move closer to making quantum processing devices in a much more easily- produced reality in everyday electronics with this latest milestone" are strong comments to make and ones you would only make with a high degree of confidence!
The last comment regarding everyday electronics with this latest milestone especially sends a tingle down my spine. The single most important application I can think of for Quantum is security in our devices. You can argue the many potential uses but the main one in a Quantum world that will stick out for all of us is device security - you will likely need a quantum chip at the very least for this purpose. That alone presents a huge market in time when Quantum matures more.
It's important to keep it in perspective Quantum has a long road to maturity, but progress like what Archer is making leading the way in room temperature operation of a Quantum device is significant to monetizing later on.
I think it's on everyone's minds that given the progress Archer is making that the possibility of a buyout from one of the Tech Giant's could be on the cards ? It's certainly a possibility but when ?? too early and it doesn't work as expected or too late and the competitor snaps it up! Archer still has to build the control devices to perform Quantum logic operations, but it does sound like they are getting the most critical part ... the qubit .. downpat!
And then we still have the Bio chip Technology also ....
There's alot of risk still but slowly each announcement erodes the risk down further.
There is an amazing team at Archer and I honestly think they'll do us proud! .. well they already are .. but you know what i mean!

Btw ... thanks for allowing me the honours Flammo, but I'll pass on the patent thread. We've had one for 12cq and it'll only get buried amongst all the other threads. If I see any movement or anything of interest I'll certainly give you all a heads up.
Patents are still very much important to a technology company as they are there to give legal protection to their technology - doesn't always mean it will stop others from copying but even if they work it out on the patents alone they still run the risk of persecution. Where would Apple be without patent protection ?
Hoping to see a Bio Chip update soon

All the best
