My local mechanic knew nothing about splitting payments on a credit card. Once i explained to him how it works - he agreed that his customers would use it. Instead they put off repairing other parts on their car. He said, if the customer had that option he could then fix all the problems while the car was onsite where the problems realised and make use of the time he took to take things apart. He agreed that the small amount in credit card commision was negligible when you consider the amount of extra work it could bring to his workshop while the car was on the hoist. When the car left the workshop there was no guarantee the customer would return to do the repairs and thus loose potential business.
I knew 4 years ago when I spoke to that mechanic where i wanted to invest my money.
