People are making this assessment with hindsight bias. If the SP had gone up to $4 or $5 this same decision to do buy back would have been hailed as a great decision. Please consider the decision when it was made and not with the benefit of hindsight.
One could argue that for a period of time the BB provided support from SP free fall. Others may argue it wasn’t required in the first place or was ineffective. There is no one assessment that satisfies all.
