Well as an occasional shorter myself I'm flattered that you think I'm more intelligent than the rest of the market but I really do not think that the number of shorts should be used as a form of analysis. Shorting is a tool available to all market participants, not only those with "inside information." They do not know anymore than the rest of the market, they can only make a punt based on the same info we have. There is a compelling short case here (ie the speculative nature of this company) but also and very strong long case. Time will tell who made the right punt
