The difference is you and I are not running a corporation when we do our spread sheets. From my experience, every formal corporate announcement requires a barrage of review to ensure that all legal and ethical responsibilities are met and no area can be construed as misleading or used as the base for legal action, etc. This process is time consuming, distracts management and is expensive in real cash terms. It is the age of the bureaucracy.
