I agree, the order book is mostly garbage. There are some legit/buys and sells at the bid/sell line, but its usually only a few hundred K units. (occasionally there is a big buy/sell over 1M).
However, the game still exists, ie, stacking buy/sells behind orders, and I imagine they wouldn't do it if it did not work.
We have seen the price being stacked a few times on the buy, and the bots switch to buy and magically the price 'rises ' a few c, retail take a few % profit and someone buys the shares. Rinse and repeat. IMO accumulation games. Frustrating, but also tell me there is a long game to get bigger profits than a pip. waiting for that again.

Also I noted that as a pleb retail, placing an order over 500K units had to go to the commsec trade desk to be 'released to market slowly so to keep stable price and market' ie. let the big boys pull their orders before you can take them out.
